We are seeking to recruit the following positions:

Business Development Director

£50,000 OTE, plus car allowance & company pension

Reporting to the Managing Director.

Flexible location.

Immediate start.

As a result of increased demand, an enviable reputation and growing referrals, JDP wish to appoint a talented, energetic and tenacious sales professional.

You will deliver new business through the generation of compelling, and energetic client focused proposals, which always hold the customer at the heart of the recommendation. In addition, you will be expected to prospect new business leads, by advertising, leveraging existing relationships, networking, and attendance at industry forums, where you will need to represent the business to the highest standard.

Your design of these persuasive approaches and proposals will not only convert potential clients into new business clients but will be leveraged to ensure JDP’s existing clients are fully appraised of the breadth of delivery that exists within the wider organisation.

By presenting new solutions and services to clients, you will develop and maintain existing accounts. Working with the marketing team, and senior level management, you will be expected to bring forward new initiatives that will stimulate short, medium and long-term growth and the nature of the role, meaning close alignment with the marketing and communications team will be crucial to the success of all stakeholders.  


As a business development manager, you will need to:

  • increase sales of the business
  • carry out sales forecasts and analysis and present your findings to senior management/the board of directors
  • research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, clients, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets
  • seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation
  • generate leads and cold call prospective clients
  • meet with clients face to face or over the phone
  • foster and develop relationships with prospects/clients
  • understand the needs of your clients and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
  • think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
  • attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
  • keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
  • help to plan sales campaigns
  • create and maintain a sales pipeline
  • negotiate pricing with clients, and suppliers in some cases
  • have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them
  • discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department

Qualifications and Skills

  • Energy, Enthusiasm and Drive
  • Can Do Attitude
  • 2 years sales and/or marketing experience, within the procurement sector
  • Excellent communication and IT fluency
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Superior time management and organisational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the industry and current events
